Where did the summer go? It seems like just last week that the pools were opening. This weekend is Labor Day weekend. The End of the summer. Most pools will close. Schools are all back in session. And even though the temperature may still get into the nineties, fall is just around the corner.
We didn’t use the pool or go to the lake nearly as much as we had hoped. And even though we still have some opportunities to enjoy them, I find myself fighting off the thoughts of fall decorating.
Our neighborhood pool will close for the season on Monday at 9pm. In years past we have commemorated this day with appetizers and dinner poolside and staying until the very last second. My husband has even been known to jump off the guard stand and splash anyone near the pools edge. You can tell that fall sports have started. Only the parents of young children are able to enjoy the pool in the evenings.
My Labor Day plans took a turn for the worse on Thursday. What had felt like a stressed knee became an extremely painful knee. An MRI is scheduled to confirm, but the DR believes I have torn my meniscus. So I am couch bound for the foreseeable future. I am learning all kinds of new skills for getting around. But that is a blog for another day.
Yesterday was opening day for UK football and tailgating. Needless to say, I did not get to go. We almost didn’t get to watch it on TV due to the ESPN and Spectrum dispute! But we found a way. It was stressful and annoying. One of my best friends sent a picture of the tailgate that they attended and what do you think was dead center of the table? Why of course Kentucky Beer Cheese! Kentucky Beer Cheese is the best addition to any tailgate. In fact, I consider it a tailgate staple!
Happy end of summer to everyone!
